SOFT SUMMER COLOUR GUIDE
MUTED & COOL

Undertone
SOFT SUMMERs have cool undertones with gray or pink undertones. The overall appearance is soft and muted.
Contrast
There is a LOW TO MEDIUM (if you have dark hair) CONTRAST between your skin, eyes and hair. They blend rather than contrast each other.
Skin
Your skin is neutral or neutral-cool with ashy and pinky undertones. It has a muted appearance and ranges from fair to medium. It may have freckles. According to the metal test, Silver flatters you more than Gold.

Eyes
Your eyes have grayish undertones; they are blue, green or hazel/light brown. For detailed eye pattern analysis, click here.

Hair
Your hair has ashy tones, ranging from ash blonde to dark ash brown. Your hair colour is mostly darker than in the other summer seasons.

SOFT SUMMERS

COMPARISON
Soft Summer sits on the seasonal flow chart between True Summer and Soft Autumn. Soft Summer colours are the softest and most gentle in the Summer family. They are also darker and less cool than other Summer Seasons.
Neighbouring the Soft Autumn, according to flow theory, makes the Soft Summer palette warmer and darker than other Summers and adds a brownish element to the colours.

Soft Summers and Soft Autumns have muted appearances and low contrast in their features. Their palette has similar, gentle, soft, and medium-value colours.
However, Soft Summers have cool (blue, gray) undertones, whereas Soft Autumns have warm (golden, honey) undertones.

CLOTHING COMBINATIONS
Technically you can create colour combinations by mixing and matching colours in your colour palette. You can combine your accent colours with your basic colours or dark or light neutral colours.

You have soft, muted, medium-value colours with coolish undertones in your palette. Most of the colours are greys & blue-based colours with a heavy focus on pinks and purples.
Since you have low to medium contrast in your features, we recommend you choose monochromatic or analogous combinations, which means combining the different shades of the same colour (such as light blue and dark blue) or combining neighbouring colours (lilac or lavender with blue or light green).
You can also combine the same value colours (such as light neutral and light accent) to your contrast level. Monochromatic combinations with pastel colours fit you the best.
Avoid clear and bright colours, high contrast, and bold combinations (complementary, triadic or tetradic). Otherwise, you look washed out behind your outfit. Black is not in your palette because it’s too dark for you. Try deep gray and cool brown shades instead of black. White is also too bright for you; you can choose other light neutrals in your colour palette for your combinations.
PATTERNS&PRINTS
Since your natural look has low to medium contrast, your patterns should reflect the same. Your colour palette has medium-value colours meaning neither dark nor light. Choose the same colours in your palette for your patterns and prints.
Small to medium scale, loosely arranged, and light colour patterns such as flowers, watercolour designs, and delicate shapes would be excellent options for your natural look. Avoid too dense, big, or sharp shapes and geometric patterns.

MAKE-UP COLOURS
Foundation&Concealer
You have a neutral-cool skin complexion with an ashy and pinky-beige undertone. You should choose a similar foundation colour to your skin tone, preferably the ones with matte and smooth finishes.

Blush
Blush colours should reflect your natural soft look. There are many different cool pink shades in your palette that you can choose. Matte finishes will blend with your skin tone naturally.

Lipstick

Your lipstick colours are blue-based pink tones. Avoid glossy and shimmery finishes; choose matte ones instead.
Eye shadows

Your soft and muted colour complexion must be repeated with your makeup colours. Therefore, matte eye shadows would be better for you. Avoid bright and too-dark colours as well as shimmery finishes.
Eyeliner&Mascara

You have many different colour options for eyeliner. Make sure that they are matte and not overly bright. Dark grays and browns are good choices for mascara.

Every Season has its own iconic notes and scents
Summer women should choose light, refreshing citrus or marine notes, such as orange blossom, lavender, green tea, rose, honeysuckle, island flowers, and sea salt.
